In the mirror
I see his reflection…
his talents titillate
his mind seduces
his hair curls round my gut.
But ego looms too large.
I bow
and turning
seek a meeker soul.

“You’re too bright for me! I’m just a baby!”
“Just because I’m in the dark, doesn’t mean you get to be on top all the time!”
“Black and white movies in my eyes: before the talkies came calling…”
My eyes
are not for you to see;
but me to be
a she or he:
a dark-eyed
mystery.

Fruity
Someone called me :
“Fruity”
today.
Did he see my core?
Or tender skin?
Reflection in the light?
Dwarfed stem?
Snappy bites to offer?
Juices flowing?
Sap?
Kinship with my seeds?
Fallen from a tree?
Or me: different?
An adventure in discovery?
