in Family Tags: All the world's a stage, care for each other, collaboration, filters, fresh vegetable, initiative, iPad camera, maybe on soup day, name and spell, part of the audience, part of the plot, passive audience, respect, see and listen, Waldorf School, what are they teaching?
Are you part of the plot?
or
Are you part of the audience?
It’s taken me awhile to focus on what the Waldorf School wants for its students.
It doesn’t allow passive audiences.
Instead, fosters initiative.
Wants to develop collaboration
Respect and care for each other.
Yes, above shows how to use an iPad camera and filters,
but also how to watch each other, take turns and see and listen to each other.
I asked the 5 year old what days her 3 year old brother would be joining her at school.
She will attend 5 mornings; he, 2 mornings.
She answered, “maybe on soup day”.
On soup day, the children bring a fresh vegetable, and they cook a soup.The concoctions get mixed reviews.
We call this day “Friday”.
What is more important, to name and spell Friday or survive by making soup?
What are these Waldorf people teaching my grand children?

Cool blue bows on snow
Orange sears horizon’s edge
Nature’s filters light.

How Do I Love Thee?
Let Me Count the Ways:
I love thee to the heights of the ceiling fan and skylight
and newspapers on the roof;
And depths of the carpet under-padding that cushions our feet.
I love thee to the lights you maintain
and the filters you replace,
To the birds you feed
and the computers you reboot;
To the steps you climb
and the pocketbook you guard;
To the garbage you tote
and the containers you recycle;
To the scents you disperse
and the aromas you emit;
And should you disappear again
I would mourn and pant and search you out
To hold and claim: “my man”
eternally!
