You’re the “apple in my eye”
peeled and quartered
spiced with cloves
steamed with brown sugar
sauce for the soul
keeping the doctor away (one day at a time)
regular, like a pear
fresh off the tree (unlike an orange)
the red glow, the green luster
the shiny apple in my eye!
