Eye Looks Out

Annika peeks out in wonder

Eye looks out
Curious
Wondering
At majesty
Long grown
With sun
And rain
And heat
And ice.
Tree rings
And lichen
To behold.

Trees grew
Tropical
In Greenland’s
Woods
Where now
Froze glaciers
Float.

A tiny child
Peeks out
Through
Grandpa wood.
A seed
Takes root.
